The Power of Not Giving Up: From Yoga Practice to Life's Challenges | Tapas Yoga HK
Author -

When facing challenges, thoughts of "giving up" often creep into our minds. Today, I want to talk about this topic - giving up. As an Ashtanga yoga practitioner, sometimes I question myself: "Why wake up so early to practice? Why work so hard at yoga?" I've had countless moments of wanting to quit.
Looking back, this isn't just about practice - it mirrors my journey of running Tapas studio. I've also wondered: "Why teach yoga styles that aren't mainstream? Why put so much effort into running this place?" These questions once left me feeling lost, even contemplating giving up.
However, I've come to understand that yoga is life, and life is yoga. Every day brings various challenges - not just physical ones, but emotional and mental ones too. Sometimes they make us uncomfortable and discouraged, shaking our resolve to keep going. But these very challenges teach us the importance of persistence.
In my classes, I often see students facing seemingly difficult poses or feeling tired and frustrated during practice. That's when I encourage them: "Try once, then try again, hold on a little longer." Even if you only managed one second today, that's still progress, still growth. Every moment of persistence, whether physical or mental, paves the way forward. Remember, yoga doesn't just train your body - your mind grows stronger too.
Whether in yoga practice or life's various challenges, we learn to persist. When we choose not to give up, when we give ourselves more patience and time, we discover that every small step of progress eventually leads to significant change.
I hope everyone can not only challenge themselves in class but also enjoy the growth these challenges bring. Let's learn to be more resilient and patient on this journey, turning every challenge into our strength.
