Exploring Different Yoga Styles (Part 2): Kundalini, Yin, and Power Yoga | Tapas Yoga HK
Author -
In the previous article Exploring Different Yoga Styles (Part 1): Hatha, Vinyasa, Hot, Ashtanga, and Iyengar Yoga, we explored various yoga styles. This time, let's explore more yoga styles, including Kundalini yoga, Yin yoga, and Power yoga, each with its unique practice methods and benefits.
Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini yoga focuses on awakening the "Kundalini Shakti" located at the base of the spine—a latent energy stored within everyone. Kundalini yoga is practiced through a combination of specific postures, chanting, meditation, and breathing techniques, with the goal of raising this energy up through the spine to the crown of the head, achieving spiritual awakening and transformation of body and mind. Kundalini yoga is suitable for practitioners seeking deep spiritual experiences and self-awareness.
Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a more passive yoga style that requires practitioners to hold a pose for an extended period (typically 3 to 5 minutes). Yin yoga primarily works on deep connective tissues—including fascia, ligaments, and joints—to increase joint flexibility and release body tension. The pace of Yin yoga is slower, making it suitable for practitioners of all levels, especially those who need deep relaxation and recovery.
Power Yoga
Power yoga is a form of yoga developed in America, inspired by traditional Ashtanga yoga. This yoga style focuses more on building body strength and endurance, with continuous movements and quick transitions that significantly elevate heart rate throughout the practice. Power yoga is suitable for those seeking challenges, building strength, and burning more calories.
Each yoga style offers different practice methods and experiences. Practitioners can choose the most suitable type based on their physical condition, interests, and spiritual pursuits. Yoga is not just a way to exercise the body—it's also a path to improving quality of life and gaining deeper understanding of one's inner self.
