Exploring Different Yoga Styles (Part 3): Jivamukti, Yin Yang, and Viniyoga | Tapas Yoga HK
Author -
Yoga, as a rich and diverse practice, manifests its variety through different yoga styles, each offering unique mind-body practices.
Following our previous two articles—Exploring Different Yoga Styles (Part 1): Hatha, Vinyasa, Hot, Ashtanga, and Iyengar Yoga and Exploring Different Yoga Styles (Part 2): Kundalini, Yin, and Power Yoga—this article will introduce Jivamukti yoga, Yin Yang yoga, and Viniyoga. Each style has its own merits, suitable for different practice needs and health goals.
Jivamukti Yoga
Jivamukti yoga is a form of yoga that combines asanas, meditation, yoga philosophy, and spiritual elevation. It includes music, chanting, and in-depth spiritual teachings, as well as study of traditional yoga scriptures. Jivamukti yoga is particularly suitable for practitioners seeking comprehensive development of body, mind, and spirit.
Yin Yang Yoga
Yin Yang yoga combines elements of Yin yoga and Yang yoga, balancing passive and active body practices. The Yin yoga portion focuses on deepening relaxation of skin and connective tissues, typically holding poses for longer periods. Yang yoga is more active and dynamic, emphasizing muscle strength and endurance. This combined practice helps achieve comprehensive physical and psychological balance.
Viniyoga
Viniyoga was developed by Krishnamacharya and emphasizes individualized practice and methods adapted to each person's unique physical needs. Viniyoga does not pursue standardized posture performance but focuses on synchronizing movement and breath, adjusting according to individual health conditions, age, gender, yoga lifestyle, and current mental state. This yoga is well-suited for practitioners who need specific therapy or have special health considerations.
Each yoga style offers different practice methods and experiences, allowing practitioners to choose the most suitable practice method based on their needs and preferences. Whether building strength or seeking spiritual peace, these yoga styles can bring rich layers and depth to your yoga practice.
