Kathy's Ice Bath Spiritual Experience: Learning to Breathe and Stay Calm in Extreme Cold | Tapas Yoga HK
Author -
Ice Bath isn't about fun—it's a spiritual experience.
The first time I submerged myself in ice water, it was genuinely painful. In everyday life, I hadn't fully understood how to release discomfort through breathing.
Learning in Extreme Cold
This time, sitting in the ice water, I felt an urgent need to master breath control—to stay calm even when my body was screaming with discomfort. It was an incredible experience.

The Connection Between Ice Bathing and Yoga
Ice bathing and yoga practice share many similarities:
- Both require focusing on the breath
- Both involve finding calm within discomfort
- Both are practices for body and mind
This ice bath experience in Mysore, India gave me a deeper appreciation for the importance of breath control.
